Invisible Citizens
After identifying the problem regarding the registration of people in Latin America and the Caribbean, and based on a paper written by the IDB in 2013, we decided to produce a graphical and interactive summary based on journalistic data on the reality that four countries in the region live.
According to UNICEF, approximately 4 million children under 5 do not have a birth certificate in Latin America and the Caribbean. The lack of a document to support their legal identity will bear severe consequences throughout their lives as they will have limited access to services and will not be able to exercise their civil rights or obtain any social benefits.
