COVID-19 and Police Agency Operations in Latin America and the Caribbean

This study reviews how the COVID-19 crisis is introducing changes in the police work and assesses its consequences on the effectiveness and legitimacy of the police in the region. Through a standardized survey administered to 13 police agencies between April 15 and 27, 2020, the main results reveal that most police agencies in the region have prepared and taken rapid action; they have also developed security protocols and contingency plans and provided their officers with protective equipment.
